The Central Utah Project Completion Act (CUPCA) (P.L. 102-575), enacted on October 30, 1992, removed responsibility for completing the Central Utah Project (CUP), a federal water project, from the United States Bureau of Reclamation.
The bill would make appropriations for FY2014 to the United States Department of the Interior for: (1) the Central Utah Project Completion Account; (2) the United States Bureau of Reclamation, including for water and related natural resources; (3) the Central Valley Project Restoration Fund; (4) California Bay-Delta Restoration; (5) administrative expenses in the Office of the Commissioner (the Denver office); and (6) offices in the five regions of the Bureau of Reclamation.
In 1909, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation completed a tunnel to supplement the Spanish Fork's flow using water from the Strawberry River through the Strawberry Valley Project, part of the Central Utah Project.
In Section 203(a) of the Central Utah Project Completion Act, the United States Congress authorized a federally authorized and funded replacement project to replace the Uinta and Upalco Units of the Central Utah Project (CUP) which were not constructed.
