He was elected an IEEE Fellow in 2000, Fellow of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers in 2003, and Fellow of the Applied Physics Society in 2007.
Okoshi has served as president of the Institute of Television Engineers and the IEICE (The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers), and vice president of the Engineering Academy of Japan and the International Union of Radio Science (URSI).
