Henry F. Ashurst (1874–1962), U.S. Senator from Arizona, 1912–1941
John "Jack" Ashurst (born 12 October 1954 in Renton, West Dunbartonshire) is a Scottish former professional football player.
In the late sixties, alongside Jimmy Montgomery, Cecil Irwin, Martin Harvey, Charlie Hurley and Jim McNab, Ashurst formed one of the most notable and most settled back fives in Sunderland's history.
In 2004, she starred as D.S. Emma Scribbins ("Scribbs") in Murder in Suburbia on ITV where she played a CID policewoman in company with Caroline Catz who played her gaffer, D.I. Ashurst.
Rusthall originally formed part of Speldhurst civil parish (together with Ashurst, Groombridge, Langton and Speldhurst) when it was formed in 1894.
At present the parish of Speldhurst is part of a united parish with Ashurst and Groombridge.
