After about 3 miles there is another roundabout which has links to Mountain Hare and Dowlais Ind Est and the A4102.
Born Florence Emily Davies in the Hunslet district of Leeds, she was the daughter of Methuselah Davies (1861–1946) from Dowlais, Wales and Florence Susannah Bird (1863–1926) from Aylsham, Norfolk.
In 1954 Webb moved to Merthyr Tydfil to work as librarian in Dowlais and, in his own words, to fully absorb himself into the national experience.
He grew up in Dowlais when his family moved to Liverpool he was educated at Liverpool College.
Hughes's childhood memories continue to have an impact upon his artwork, with numerous references to Welsh landscape and culture, especially that of the south Wales valleys and Dowlais Top and Caeharris in particular: As a child he would regularly explore the local rugged landscape outside his back-door, just below the Brecon Beacons.
Tradesmen, doctors and other businessmen often selected ponies by trotting them the 35 uphill miles from Cardiff to Dowlais.
