As part of the Fjord City and redevelopment of Bjørvika, the Ekeberg Line has been proposed to follow a new line on the south side of Oslo Central Station to Jernbanetorget, with stops at Sørengautstikkeren and Bjørvika.
This is a mixed residential and commercial area, and home to the Norwegian National Academy of Ballet.

Vippetangen and Akershusstranda will receive little renewal, since the area features the national monument of Akershus Fortress.

Oslo Central Station will be completely rebuilt, and only the tracks and platforms will be preserved.
