According to the website, "Aurora has hosted over 400 visiting artists and presented over 4000 films and videos" including the premieres of Isaac Julien's "True North" in 2007, and Laurie Anderson's film, "Hidden Inside Mountains".
His painting, Scenes on the Coast of Africa, depicted on the right, was the inspiration behind Isaac Julien's short film The Attendant (1993).

From 1999 to 2000, she attended the renowned Whitney Independent Studio Program of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, where Isaac Julien, Yvonne Rainer, Mary Kelly, Hal Foster, and Benjamin Buchloh were among her teachers.

At the Contemporary Museum, Baltimore, Lerner curated several exhibitions, including new projects with Christian Marclay and Dennis Adams, and was the originating curator for the film installation Baltimore by Isaac Julien.
