Holbeach developed the sweating sickness and died on 2 August 1551 at Nettleham (some accounts give 6 August as date of death) and was buried there on 7 August 1551.
On 7 February 1301 King Edward I of England was staying in the Bishop's Palace when he created his son Edward (later Edward II of England) as the first Prince of Wales.
He studied at Lincoln College and had a spell at Nettleham towards the end of the 2008–09 season, before joining his hometown club Lincoln City where he stayed until being released in the summer of 2010.
