The Rugby League World Golden Boot Award is given to the international player of the year, as determined by a ballot of international rugby league writers and broadcasters.

The Golden Boot was founded in 1985 and is awarded by the British magazine Rugby League World.

To fill the gap, Rugby League World magazine asked its Golden Boot panel to come up with winners in the existing categories used by the RLIF.

On 3 November 2011 The annual RLIF Awards dinner was held at the Tower of London and Pope was named the United States player of the year.
He was also shortlisted alongside Sonny Bill Williams and Greg Inglis for the RLIF International Player of the Year.
