Fount Tillman (1854 – March, 1899) was the eighth Register of the Treasury, and served during the second term of President Grover Cleveland.
Four of the five African Americans whose signatures have appeared on U.S. currency were Registrars of the Treasury (Blanche K. Bruce, Judson W. Lyons, William T. Vernon and James C. Napier).
Vernon achieved prominence as a Republican as president of Western University, and in 1906, he was appointed by President Theodore Roosevelt as Register of the Treasury.
