The type series of R. olseni was thought to originate from the Pekin Formation of Montgomery County.

Irmis et al. (2007) and Nesbitt et al. (2007) tentatively synonymized Pekinosaurus (and Galtonia) with Revueltosaurus, and refer its type series to Revueltosaurus sp.
