Funeral services for Steven Parent were held on August 13, 1969, at the Church of the Nativity in El Monte, after which he was interred at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in nearby Rowland Heights.

Wealthier immigrants have since moved onto San Marino (an expensive neighborhood) in large numbers during the 1980s and eventually in other communities such as Walnut and Rowland Heights thus giving rise to new suburban Chinatown areas in the Los Angeles.
By 1988, Chen then convinced Taiwanese investors to construct a retail complex that was able to accommodate restaurants and stores and as well as a 36,000-square foot supermarket in Rowland Heights, a suburb that was located in the Eastern part of Rowland Heights, where the suburb was located east of the well-known Chinese American community of Monterey Park.
