The Van Beveren, also a fur-rabbit breed, is family and has been bred in the same region of Flanders, the Waasland.
Townshend introduced to England the four-field crop rotation pioneered by farmers in the Waasland region in the early 18th century.
He joined Waasland-Beveren on a loan deal in January 2013 and six months later, agreed on a three-year deal to make his stay permanent.
